The Stroke Program at The Texas Brain and Spine Institute is a JCAHO-approved Primary Stroke Center and is the only advanced stroke program of its kind in our area. Eligible patients can be treated up to 8 hours from the onset of their stroke symptoms.
A highly-trained team of specialists that includes neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neurosurgery, and neuroradiology work together to provide timely and safe treatment of stroke patients. Some of the therapies administered include tPA, MERCI retrieval, and angioplasty. Stereotactic radiosurgery is used for appropriate conditions.
About the Program
Diagnostic capabilities include MRI and MRA, conventional (digital subtraction) angiography, CT angiography of head and neck vessels, extracranial duplex ultrasonongraphy, transesophageal echocardiography and comprehensive thrombosis testing.
